This is a completely online course with no class meetings. There is a series of 6 learning modules with self-guided activities. The first learning module must be completed before the course begins and the final module after it ends. The activities require as much interaction between students as with the instructor(s). The learning will occur both among the students, themselves, and with the instructors. Successive aspects of track and soil mechanics are introduced and then reinforced by applied field experience at locations of the student?s choosing. There is a mix of video?s, readings, journal reflections, discussion, and independent investigation and exploration.

The student is not expected to have have any experience in tracking but is expected to be proficient with online technologies including how to upload pictures and scanned images; and the ability to `draw? on them using any one of a variety of tools such as MS Paint, or drawing in a word processor, etc.
