Course Description: The purpose of the course is to provide basic skills and knowledge on cross cultural competencies and prepare future leaders, managers, administrators, teachers or social workers to work effectively in culturally diverse working environments. The course offers a theoretical foundation on cross cultural issues, as well as ways to apply intercultural skills and knowledge to create teams of people who can work together for a common goal, respecting each other?s cultures, traditions, values, believes and identities. It provides useful tools to the course participants so that they become successful working with people from different cultural backgrounds. Learning objectives: At the completion of this course students will be able to: ?Explain the importance of intercultural management competencies ?Express respect and understanding for cultural diversity and values of others who may have different practices, customs and traditions ?Demonstrate awareness, sensitivity to cultural differences to work effectively with others from different cultural backgrounds ?Reflect strategies of negotiation and conflict resolution that are culturally responsive ?Apply different intercultural communication styles to prevent intercultural misunderstanding and conflicts ?Describe understanding of different cultures and interpret how to optimize human performance and potential in organizations
