The Green Mountain Writing Project at UVM brings together a group of experienced teachers of all subjects, from kindergarten through college. During a pre-institute orientation, four 5-day weeks, and a follow-up session, fellows look at themselves as writers, teachers and researchers. ? National Writing Project fellows draw on the research and experience of others across the profession and across the years. ? Fellows prepare, refine, present and respond to research and inquiry based teaching demonstrations, transferable across grades and subject areas. ? Fellows write, respond to each other?s writing, revise and publish throughout the summer institute, learning writing from the inside out and profoundly informing their instruction. National Writing Project fellows draw on the research and experience of others across the profession and across the years. ? Fellows read and apply the works of other teacher-writers and researchers (See Summer Institute Reader) Upon successful completion of the Invitational Summer Institute, teachers may be invited to become part of GMWP?s established corps of Teacher Consultan for Vermont schools and school districts.
