This course introduces the students to key elements of mindfulness practice, basic listening and counseling skills, and how to apply them in work and life. Prerequisite: Instructor permission.

Dates: July 13 - August 7, 2015; July 13 - 24, students will do assigned pre-course readings and topic discussion online with each other and instructor; July 27-31, will meet Face to Face on campus, Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM; August 3 - 7 students will complete projects on their own; Contact for department for campus meeting location;
This course will provide current and future educators, SLPs, and others to develop an understanding and self-practice of mindfulness. In addition to skills to utilize in a professional setting, students will learn strategies to incorporate into everyday. Students will read articles, selected chapters from books, and will access a web-based or app-based mindfulness tool.
There will be one week of in-person class time the week of July 27th-July 31st. The other weeks will be experiential and self-study.
Grades will be based on participation, attendance, and weekly reflection writing, and a final project.
