This course provides an introduction to writing poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction. In morning and afternoon sessions on campus, students will participate in intensive writing exercises designed to address the elements of craft. Students will read and discuss the work of established authors, investigating the strategies they use to craft their poetry and prose. In workshop sessions, students will read and discuss each other?s original poems, essays and short stories as a first step toward revision. During the online portion of the course, students will share their revised drafts and, with guidance from the instructor, complete a portfolio of finished work.
