About MMG 295 Z1

Introduction to biochemistry, designed specifically for pre-professional students (preMed, preVet and preDental) and undergraduate majors in the biological and biomedical sciences. We will focus on key principles of biochemistry, including the structure, function, and metabolism of biological molecules, DNA replication and gene expression, and state of the art methods. Please note that, although this course fulfills admission requirements for professional programs, it looks at biochemistry across the full spectrum of biology, rather than focusing primarily on clinical aspects of human biochemistry. No laboratory. Textbook is "Biochemistry: A Short Course", by Tymoczko, Berg and Stryer. Second edition, 2010. ISBN 978-1-4292-8360-1
