This course focuses on the development and use of two sets of financial reporting standards: International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and US Private Company Council (PCC) standards. Future accounting professionals are likely to be involved with both standards during their early careers; both sets of standards are also included on the CPA exam. Course materials include the actual financial reporting standards available online, readings and cases.

Section Description

This course focuses on the development and use of two sets of financial reporting standards: International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and US Private Company Council (PCC) standards. Course materials include the actual financial reporting standards available online, readings and cases.

The course has four modules (one per week): Module 1: The process and politics of standard setting; the evolution of standards Module 2: Three key IFRS: IAS 41 Agriculture; IAS 40 Investment Property; Revenue recognition Module 3: Differences between US GAAP and PCC; IFRS and IFRS for SMEs Module 4: Estimates and judgments involved in applying financial accounting standards
