This course is intended for classroom teachers, art specialists, and students in the education department who are interested in learning how to incorporate the arts (theater and creative movement) into their classroom practice. In this hands-on course, students and teachers will explore, practice, and learn how to lead, develop, and assess integrated lessons that are standards based and can be taken directly into the classroom. In engaging in arts based lessons, teachers will fuel their own creativity and develop their own innate artistic ability in effort to improve practice and develop strategies to ignite the imagination in their students. Ultimately, this course will help teachers differentiate their lessons in effort to help all students succeed. The first week of class will consist of pre-course reading, online discussion and journaling. Students will meet at UVM 8:30-4 Monday through Friday, of the second week of the course, May 26 - 30.
