Students who have taken EDSS 197, in which we focused mainly on prose texts, can register for this follow-up course that will focus on five other elements that can be used in eBooks: images, audio, lists, tables, and links, including those used to form an internal table of contents. This course addresses this request by grounding the students in research concerning the roles that these elements can and/or should play in presenting educational materials and design perspectives to help establish criteria for both choosing to incorporate them and creating high-quality examples. Students will learn to employ these elements, along with prose text, through hands-on practice, either in products for colleagues, products for students or in preparation to share their learning with students.

DATES: May 19 - August 8, 2014; Credits- 1-3; Hybrid course Online and Waterman Computer Lab 113-T; Course will have 3-4 hour meetings and 1-2 hour meetings, plus online contact between meetings; Must have a Mac computer and Pages '09 and be familiar with the OS and software.
