Digital Media for Performance will introduce students to the application digital media to the performing arts, specifically their use in theatrical design. During the course of the semester, students will be introduced to various types of digital software in the context of performance design. Extensive use will be made of online support materials available for these types of software. They will take their knowledge of these software programs to execute design projects illustrative of their application in production design. In addition the students will have the opportunity to visit local theatrical production companies to see examples of state-of-the-art digital media equipment designed specifically for performance production. This class will appeal to students in Theatre, Dance, Music, Film and Television Studies along with Art, Business and Computer Sciences. It will appeal to anyone, in fact, who needs to use digital media for public presentations.
Evaluation will be based upon attendance, participation in class and completion of assigned projects.
