Nutritional needs of people throughout the life cycle. Physiological and environmental factors which affect nutritional status. Designed for Nutrition majors. Prerequisite: NFS 043. Fall.

From conception through the elderly years, you will explore unique nutritional issues and health concerns that arise at different periods of life. Nutrition is not a `one size fits all? application and you will discover the nutritional and environmental influences that can impact pregnancy outcome, growth and development in the early years, maturation during adolescence and bodily changes in the elderly years. You will develop an understanding of why nutritional needs vary as we journey through life and appreciate the significance of these changes. You will have an opportunity to take your basic nutritional knowledge to the next level as you navigate the changing role of nutrition through the life cycle. You will also have an opportunity to analyze a dietary profile of a person in a specific life phase. NFS 43 prerequisite.
