Rebecca McLaughlin ()
Dates: June 16 - July 11, 2014
This course surveys British literature from the late 18th to the mid-20th century. We will examine a variety of works and consider how literature reflects the social and cultural attitudes within which it was written while also acting as a vehicle for cultural change. Additionally we will view select videos; look at various historical objects, art, and architecture; and listen to readings, music, and songs in order to gain a greater understanding of the period. Expect a daily writing assignment in the form of a journal entry, blog posting, or group wiki. Reading quizzes and a final written assignment are also required in this 4-week online course.
