This Conversation Circle course is focused on encouraging English language learners to practice their speaking and listening skills. The class will be designed to promote discussions in small groups of up to five students. Students will receive guided support specifically for their own level of oral fluency, while engaging in interesting conversation, having fun and further advancing their knowledge of the English language.//Textbook to be decided.
1) Students are expected to take an active part in contributing to conversations at their own skill levels. 2) Listening carefully and being interested in what other class members have to say is very important. 3) This is primarily an oral skills course, homework is generally not required. 4) Course Goals and Objectives include: Building confidence in speaking skills, Improving oral skills in general, Increasing vocabulary (especially understanding of informal English), Expanding understanding of American culture, Polishing pronunciation as an aid in communicating ideas, Learning about the cultures of other students in the class.
Grading is based on attendance, effort and participation. Because this is a short summer course, attendance is important.
