The main goal of this course is for you to be statistically literate. The goal is not to memorize a lot of formulas and procedures, but to understand the thinking that goes into using data to understand the world, so that you can use statistical results, and basic statistical methods successfully in their field of study and in daily life.
You will need a graphing calculator (TI83 or 84) for this class; you'll need to install (free) software (JMP) on your computer; and you'll need to purchase access to an online homework portal (cost around $100). This online class goes quickly. You'll need to spend a good deal of time reading and doing homework problems. It is best if you have sufficient time to do the work, and are a good self-starter (not a procrastinator).
