The Horse is a multifaceted summer intensive designed to increase student knowledge, hands on ability and connections to the equine industry. The Horse has three components: 1. On line instructive portion designed to explore equine anatomy and physiology with a particular focus on lameness and recognizing typical illness. 2. An intensive 4 day hands on rehabilitation component that is completed in partnership with SUNY Morrisville and their new multi million-dollar equine rehabilitation facility. 3. A final three day component exploring the racing industry and other equine related activities. In addition to our time at SUNY Morrisville and Saratoga Springs Race Track, high lights of this program include: A morning at John Madden Sales (the home of Beezie Madden), An afternoon with Denny Emerson (?One of the 50 most influential horsemen of the Twentieth Century (The Chronicle of the Horse, 2000).The only rider to have ever won both a gold medal in eventing and a Tevis buckle in endurance. In 2006, Denny was inducted into the United States Eventing Association (USEA) Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the Dartmouth College Athletic Hall of Fame and of the Vermont Academy Athletic Hall of Fame.) at Tamarack Hill Farm in Strafford Vermont, and finally a riding experience with Eric Smiley (Coach to the 2012 Belgium Olympic Eventing Team,Fellow of the British Horse Society,International Competitor,Renowned Coach, Producer of Young Horses,F.E.I. Official ). Students of all levels will have the opportunity to ride at Hitching Post Farm with Mr. Smiley. All levels of students are welcomed and encouraged!
