About ENGS 101 OL2

Using descriptive linguistic theory, this course examines basics of English grammar with emphasis on hands-on examples. Also includes exploration of politicization of English grammar. Prerequisites: 3 hours ENGS, CSD or LING. Cross-listed with CSD 164 (formerly CMSI) and LING 164.

Section Description

This is a basic grammar course, beginning with parts of speech and ending with clauses and a bit of diagramming. No previous knowledge of grammar is required.

Section Expectation

Students are expected to log onto the website and do a reading and complete 3-4 assignments per day, every day, five days per week. They may log on any time of the day, but it must be done every day. This is not an at-your-own-pace online course. No textbook is required. All materials will be available online.

Evaluation

Assessment is by online homework and quizzes, including multiple choice, matching, and discussion assignments.
