Section Description
This course will introduce students to the field of linguistics, the analysis of linguistic data, and some of the broad issues surrounding the world?s languages. It emphasizes the theory and methodology of the main areas of the field (phonetics, phonology, morphology, and syntax). The remainder of the course will be divided among other areas of linguistics, including lexical semantics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, language acquisition, and animal communication.
