A Note from President Sullivan

As you may have noticed, much has been happening on campus, and there is seldom a dull moment at UVM. It’s been a lively couple of weeks hereabouts, as activist students and their allies press for structural changes to further address racial equality and justice here at UVM. Thank you for your steadfast attention to your roles and responsibilities during this time of raised voices, protests, and heightened awareness.

As the daylight slowly lengthens and we start seeing hints of another season’s change, we’re reminded that spring break is just around the corner, and with that comes edu@uvm. This important learning event, open to all staff across the University, provides a great opportunity for colleagues to share experience and knowledge, learn new skills, and gain fresh perspectives to support work and life. The three-day schedule, March 13–15, is packed with excellent offerings, and includes an ice cream social and resource fair. Register soon if you have not yet done so; registration closes on March 7th.

If you're interested in working on behalf of staff toward our next big achievement, consider applying to be a representative!

There are many personal and professional benefits of service such as leadership skills, collaboration skills, writing and organizational skills, and the opportunity to meet and work together with colleagues from all across the university community.

This spring, the Council is recruiting new representatives in the following areas:

photo description Staff Council's Personal and Professional Development Committee is proud to present Get the Scoop, an ice cream social and resource fair for staff. After your edu@uvm classes on Wednesday, March 14th, swing by the Davis Center Atrium between 2:00 and 4:00 for free ice cream from Ben and Jerry's and the UVM Dairy Bar – and plenty of toppings, of course. Non-dairy options will also be available.

At Get the Scoop, Staff Council will be joined by many of our colleagues from around UVM such as Employee Wellness, Physical Plant, Professional Development and Training, Continuing and Distance Education, and lots more.

You can add Get the Scoop to your edu registration, but you're also welcome to just drop by. No advance registration is required for this event. (But don't forget to sign up for the rest of your edu classes before registration closes on March 7th!)
