A Note from President Tom Sullivan
- By President Tom Sullivan
Mid-semester greetings to all! As the light returns in these late-winter days, it feels as though spring break is just around the corner.
In that week when campus quiets down and many of us return to strategic projects or wider-lens planning, I hope you’ll take the time to join colleagues from across campus in one or more of the many excellent enrichment opportunities offered through edu@uvm.
This signature three-day learning event, focused specifically on staff development, offers more than 40 seminars aimed at investing in your work and your life. From personal wellness to professional skill building, from seminars exploring critical issues of the day to planning for retirement and life beyond UVM, edu@uvm offers learning opportunities across a broad spectrum of applicable and relevant subjects.
Classes such as “Social Media and Digital Communications at UVM” and “Next Level Excel” offer hands-on training with tools and techniques. “Smart Nutrition for Busy Professionals” and “The Power of Positivity!” are two of the several classes focused on supporting personal wellness in the context of a demanding professional life. And “Supporting Students from a Trauma-Informed Lens” and “Metaphor and Meaning: Exploring Diversity through Art” are offerings on the impressive roster of contemporary issues that inform our educational environments and perspectives.
If you haven’t already done so, I urge you to check out the full edu@uvm program schedule today. Registration closes on March 7th.
I value deeply the professional work of all of our University staff, and the aspirational culture of learning and self-development among staff colleagues across the University. Thank you for the excellent work you do every day for each of us that makes UVM a standout among our peers.
