UVM Theatre presents Spring Awakening

Award winning musical Spring Awakening opens in the Royall Tyler Theatre on Thursday, February 23

The UVM Department of Theatre presents Spring Awakening in the Royall Tyler Theatre, February 23-25 & March 2-5. Winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Spring Awakening has emerged as a modern masterpiece and cautionary tale that explores the coming of age of young people in a repressed society.
Directed by Dept of Theatre chair Gregory Ramos, and featuring the talents of 16 UVM student actors, Spring Awakening is a theatrical spectacle. With soaring vocals and an unforgettable score by Duncan Sheik, Spring Awakening is an exhilarating fusion of stark social commentary, sizzling sexuality and uplifting rock and roll.
If you like musical theatre you don’t want to miss this new classic of the modern American theatre.
With book and lyrics by Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik, Spring Awakening is based on the play by Frank Wedekind.
The New York Times says of Spring Awakening – “This brave musical, haunting and electrifying by turns, restores the mystery, the thrill to that shattering transformation that stirs in all our souls.”
