Community Partnerships for Student Employment

The Federal Work Study program is "…to encourage students receiving Federal student financial assistance to participate in community service activities that will benefit the Nation and engender in the students a sense of social responsibility and commitment to the community."

UVM looks forward to working with community organizations to establish work-study paid internships in order to ensure that all students who are awarded Federal Work Study money can take advantage of the federal funds. Hiring a UVM student who has received Federal Work Study funds during the academic year is an inexpensive way for local organizations to get extra help with projects while also assisting UVM students integrate into the greater Burlington community. Community organizations are only responsible for paying 25% of the student’s wages.

If your organization is interested in becoming a UVM approved Federal Work Study Program partner, please contact the Student Employment Office.
