Frequently Asked Questions ... from Medical Students
Below are the top questions we hear most often from medical students. For more answers to frequently asked questions, please visit our FAQ page.
- How do I apply for financial aid?
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the only application required to apply for financial aid at the University of Vermont. Please note that the Federal Processor must receive the FAFSA by our priority deadline (March 1st for all medical students) in order for the student to be considered for all available aid programs.
All medical students are encouraged to provide parental financial information on the FAFSA. Parental information is required in order for medical students to be considered for need-based scholarships.
- Why do you require parental information on the FAFSA?
Parental information is required on the FAFSA in order to be considered for need-based University scholarships. UVM College of Medicine has limited resources to allocate to need-based scholarship funds. As funding is limited and many medical students report similar student financial information on the FAFSA we require parental information in order to determine which students demonstrate the highest level of financial need.
- When will I get a bill?
Your billing notification from UVM will be sent to your UVM e-mail account during the month of July for the fall semester and in December for the spring semester. If your financial aid award acceptance has been completed by the billing date, your aid will be reflected on your bill as "pending" financial aid.
