2013-2014 Undergraduate & Graduate Student Financial Aid Budgets

These Financial Aid Budgets show the Cost of Attendance based on a student's enrollment type and housing status. The financial aid award is based on the cost of attendance, and a student's total financial aid awards (grants, scholarships, loans, Work-Study, etc.) cannot exceed the cost of attendance. Students cannot appeal to have their cost of attendance updated based on having costs outside of those listed below, except in very specific circumstances (see exceptions for UVM Health Insurance and Child Care, below).

What you need to know about your financial aid budget:

*Room and board amounts included in the undergraduate financial aid budget are based on the rates for a traditional double residence hall room and the cost of the mid-price meal plan. Financial aid budgets are not increased for students whose actual room and meal plan costs are higher. View all room and meal plan rates.

**Student fees for on-campus undergraduate students include the $30/year Inter-Residence Association Fee. View the Residential Life website for more information on this fee.

Your financial aid budget is designed to assist with basic living expenses incurred during the 9-month financial aid year. It is not tailored to individual living expenses or choices. Students who sign 12-month leases and/or who do not live with a roommate should keep in mind that the aid budget is designed to cover a 9-month period and assumes that students will be sharing living expenses with a roommate or partner.

Health Insurance

If you are required by UVM to have health insurance and are purchasing the UVM Health Insurance, you may request an increase in your financial aid budget to assist with a portion of your UVM Health Insurance Premium costs. Your UVM Health Insurance premium provides coverage for the entire year. We can increase your financial aid budget to assist with 75% of the total premium cost based on the percentage of the year you are actually enrolled.

Child Care

Students with dependent children may incur additional expenses beyond the limits of the financial aid budget students with dependent children may contact our office to discuss an increase to their financial aid budget.
