TRIO Programs @ UVM
Welcome to Student Support Services!
Who are We?
Student
Support Services (SSS) is an academic program funded by the United
State Department of Education. All services are aimed at increasing the
academic potential of SSS participants and are provided at no cost to
eligible students.
Our Goal
The
goal of SSS is to increase the retention and graduation rates of
college students who demonstrate academic need and are first
generation, and/or low income, and/or have a documented disability.
This goal is based upon the belief that all students, regardless of
age, family background, learning style, or presence of a disability,
should have equal opportunity to reach their full personal, academic,
and career potential.
Who Qualifies for Student Support Services?
Students are eligible for services if at least one of the following are true:
• Neither parent has a four year college degree
• The applicant's family meets Federal financial aid guidelines for taxable income
• The applicant has a disabling condition (i.e.,
physically challenged or learning disabled)
Student Support Services is funded by the U.S. Department of Education for four years in the amount of $310,977.
The
University of Vermont is an equal opportunity educational institution
and is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
