HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth Big Green scored three times in the first half to earn a 3-0 shutout victory over visiting Vermont in non-conference women's soccer action at Burnham Field on Tuesday night.
Myra Sack put Dartmouth up 1-0 just 8:31 into the match. Teammate Kelsey Quick slipped a quick pass over to Sack who was able to get off a shot and find the net for her third goal of the season.
In the 26th minute, Sack picked up an assist on Becky Poskin's tally which gave Dartmouth a 2-0 lead.
The Big Green pushed the lead to three when Peyton Tata collected a pass from Ali Hubbard and fired in a hard shot past Vermont goalkeeper Eliza Bradley (Charlotte, Vt.).
Vermont was able to hold Dartmouth scoreless in the second half, however Big Green finished the game with a 28-1 advantage in shots and 5-0 edge in corner kicks.
"Our second half was much better than the first. We had a few players playing in different positions and saw better organization and communication in the second 45 minute period," said Vermont head coach Kwame Lloyd.
Bradley finished the game with a season-high 15 saves for UVM. Colleen Hogan was not tested in picking up her third shutout of the year.
Dartmouth improves to 7-6 on the year, while Vermont falls to 1-11-3 overall.
"Despite the result we saw some positives in this game and we will take those forward with us into our final conference games of the regular season."
Vermont will wrap up the regular season with a pair of America East games on the road. UVM travels to Binghamton for a 7 p.m. game on Thursday (Oct. 22) and then heads to Hartford in the regular season finale on Sunday (Oct. 25) at 1 p.m. The Catamounts are one of three teams fighting for a spot in the America East playoffs.
