NOTEBOOK
The University of Vermont women’s hockey team travels to
Boston College this weekend for a two-game series. The game on Friday is
scheduled for 7 p.m. while Saturday is slated for 2 p.m.
ABOUT
BOSTON COLLEGE
Boston College was picked to finish second in Hockey East by the league’s
coaches in the preseason poll. The Eagles currently sit at 2-2-4 and are
coming off a 2-1 upset of No. 8 Boston U on Monday.
Allie Thunstrom leads Boston College’s attack with six goals and an assist through the first eight games. Ten different players have found the back of the net for the Eagles. Corinne Boyles has played seven games between the pipes for Boston College, with a goals against average of 2.03 and a saves percentage of .938.
SERIES HISTORY
The two teams have squared off 16 times in the series with Boston College
recording a 14-2-0 record against the Catamounts. The two schools began
playing each other in 2001-02, when UVM joined Division I.
Both of Vermont’s wins over the Eagles came in the 2002-03 season when UVM defeated Boston College 3-2 and 3-1.
HOME, SWEET HOME
The Catamounts opened the season with eight consecutive home games. The
stretch lasted from October 9 until October 31. Vermont went 4-4-0 on the
homestand. The Catamounts will now be on the road until Nov. 14, with three
games in Boston. UVM will play Boston College this weekend then Boston U on
Wednesday, November 11.
SPECIAL TEAMS
The Catamounts have excelled in special teams so far this year, including a
perfect penalty kill last weekend against Northeastern. They are 29-for-37
on the penalty kill this year. They are also 10th in the nation with a
power play percentage of 18.2, going 8-for-44.
WHO’S NEXT
Vermont will stay in Boston after this weekend as it takes on Boston U on
Wednesday, November 11 at 7 p.m.
