WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Senior Kristen Olychuck (Kelowna, British Columbia) was named the Defensive Player of the Week by Hockey East, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Olychuck made 51 saves during the two-game series against No. 4 Clarkson, in which the Catamounts went 1-1-0. During Saturday’s 4-1 victory over the No. 4 Golden Knights, Olychuck made 26 saves.
The senior goalie has a save percentage of .935 percent for the 2009-10 season, while having a goals against average of just 1.25.
Vermont returns to action this weekend when it hosts Princeton in a two-game weekend series. The game on Friday, October 23 is slated for 7 p.m., while Saturday is scheduled for 4 p.m.
