The University of Vermont Week in Athletics is produced each week during the academic year and provides updates and recaps of all the action and upcoming events in Catamount Country.

CATAMOUNTS TV
Catamounts TV is a new addition to the UVM Athletics website. The video portal will serve as the home of all of the video content produced by the athletic department. On the bottom of the right hand column of the video player box there is a playlist arrow. Click on the arrow and select the sport of your choice to see all the videos for the sport you selected.

UVM will also continue to post videos on its YouTube channel as well. But for the most immediate opportunity to view highlights and postgame interviews after UVM contests go to Catamounts TV.

BUS WITH US – NOV. 14-15
The Vermont Athletic Department is sponsoring a "Bus With Us" trip when the men's hockey team plays a two-game series at Boston College on November 14-15. The trip includes tickets to both games against the Eagles at the Conte Forum, Saturday’s game is a 7 p.m. start and Sunday’s game is set for 4 p.m. Saturday night hotel accommodations will be provided by the Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, Mass. On Sunday, there will be an alumni and fan gathering prior to the game. Seats are limited for the trip and costs are: $250 (includes single room), $200 (includes double room), $175 (includes triple room), $150 (includes quad room). To register please email rallycatamount@uvm.edu. Please include your preference for shirt size and type of sandwich for lunch (veggie, Italian, ham or turkey).

CROSS COUNTRY
LAST WEEK:
* The Catamounts hosted the 2009 America East Cross Country Championship for the first time since 1993 at Catamount Family Center in Williston, Vt.
QUICK HITS:
* Senior Aly Millett (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) led the women's team to a third place finish. Millett posted a career-best finish in her final conference championship race, placing fifth overall. She covered the course in a time of 18:45.20 and her performance was the best by a Catamount women's runner since Michele Palmer was fourth in 2003.
* Teammate Morgan Powers (Cincinnati, Ohio) placed ninth overall to give UVM two runners in the top-10 for the first time in nine years. The Catamounts also had their best team finish since 2000, placing third in the women's standings.
* Senior Doug Maisey (Gwynedd Valley, Pa.) posted a career-best third place finish to lead the Catamounts to fifth place in the team standings in the men's race. Maisey finished the course in a time of 25:34.80. His performance was the best by a Catamount men's runner since 2001 when Jamie Carmichael placed fourth overall at the league championships.
WHO'S NEXT:
* Vermont will continue its postseason, competing at the NCAA Northeast Regionals on November 14 at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.

MEN’S BASKETBALL (0-0; 0-0 America East)
LAST WEEK:
* Vermont opened the season on Sunday by defeating Concordia in preseason action, 92-46 at Patrick Gym.
QUICK HITS:
* Senior Maurice Joseph (Montreal, Quebec) led three Catamounts in double-figures with a game-high 15 points. Joseph went 4-for-7 from the floor and 5-for-5 from the free throw line.
* Vermont shot 54.1 percent from the floor for the game, while limiting the Stingers to connect on only 26.2 percent.
* Junior Joey Accaoui (Lincoln, R.I.) added 13 points and three assists off the bench, as all 12 Catamounts scored in the contest.
WHO’S NEXT:
* Vermont will play its final exhibition game on Saturday (Nov. 7) when it hosts neighboring Saint Michael's College at 1 p.m. at Patrick Gym. The game can be heard on WEAV-960 AM, WXZO-96.7 FM, and WCVR-102.1 FM. The game can also be heard over the Internet at SportsJuice.com and live video of the game will be available on a pay-per-view basis ($7) via B2 Networks.
* Saturday is UPS Team Poster Day. Players will be available after the game for autographs session. Fans are also asked to bring a can food item to donate to the Chittenden County Food Shelf as part of the "Have a Heart" promotion. Rally's Round Up Members can get free admission to the game Saturday, but must pre-register by emailing Rally Cat at Rallycatamount@uvm.edu (space is limited).

WOMEN’S SOCCER (1-13-3; 1-5-2 America East)
* Freshman midfielder Jess Herbst (Webster, N.Y.) was named to the America East All-Rookie Team. Herbst started all 16 games she played this season and finished the year with five points. The 2009 season marks the fifth straight year a Catamount has been named to the conference’s all-rookie team.

MEN’S SOCCER (1-10-5; 1-5-2 America East)
LAST WEEK:
* The Catamounts ended their season with a 2-1 loss to Boston University.
QUICK HITS:
* Yannick Lewis (Toronto, Ontario) recorded his second goal of the season in the loss to Boston U. Both goals this season came in the last five minutes of the game.
* T.J. Gore (Macomb, Mich.) is a candidate for America East’s Fans’ Choice Player of the Year. The winner will be announced tomorrow on www.AmericaEast.com.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY (4-4-0; 0-2-0 Hockey East)
LAST WEEK:
* The Catamounts opened Hockey East action hosting Northeastern, but dropped a pair of games, falling 3-0 on Friday and 1-0 on Saturday.
QUICK HITS:
* Sophomore Kailey Nash (Middletown, R.I.) is ranked 10th in Hockey East scoring. She leads UVM with five goals and eight points and is averaging one point a game.
* UVM wrapped up its eight-game homestand to start the 2009-10 series with a 4-4-0 record. The Catamounts picked up wins over then-No. 4 Clarkson and Princeton University, two teams Vermont had never defeated entering this season.
WHO’S NEXT
* Vermont will hit the road for the first time 2009-10 season when it travels to Boston College for a weekend series. Friday's game is slated for 7 p.m., while Saturday contest is scheduled for 4 p.m.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (0-0; 0-0 America East)
LAST WEEK:
* Vermont rolled past Laval, 72-43, in a preseason game on Saturday.
QUICK HITS:
* Senior Courtnay Pilypaitis (Ottawa, Ontario) paced the Catamounts with a game-high 27 points in the win over Laval. She was also named to the Full Court Press Preseason Mid-Major Top-25 Honorable Mention team last week. The team honors outstanding student-athletes that are in Division I programs outside of the six major conferences. The players were chosen from 25 different conferences and from approximately 258 institutions.
* Freshman Lauren Buschmann (St. Catharines, Ontario) and senior Sofia Iwobi (Fairfield, Iowa) combined for 27 rebounds for the Catamounts.
WHO'S NEXT:
* Vermont will host Franklin Pierce on Saturday (Nov. 7) at 4:30 p.m. in the final preseason game before the regular season begins. The game is part of a basketball doubleheader as the UVM men's team hosts Saint Michael's at 1 p.m. The women's game can be heard on WVMT-620 AM and on the Internet at SportsJuice.com. Live video of the game will also be available on a pay-per-view basis ($7) via B2 Networks.
* Saturday is $1.00 dog day compliments of University Dining.

MEN’S HOCKEY (2-3-0; 1-2-0 Hockey East)
LAST WEEK:
* No. 10 Vermont dropped a 4-1 decision at Maine on Friday.
QUICK HITS:
* Sophomore Matt Marshall (Hingham, Mass.) scored his first goal of the season against the Black Bears.
* Senior Brayden Irwin (Toronto, Ont.) extended his scoring streak to five games with an assist against Maine.
* The Catamounts play 11 of their next 14 games at home after playing four of their first five contests on the road.
WHO’S NEXT:
* Vermont hosts No. 9 UMass-Lowell on Friday at 7:05 p.m. and Providence on Sunday at 4 p.m. Both games can be heard on WVMT-620 AM and on the Internet at SportsJuice.com. Live video of the games will also be available via B2 Networks on a pay-per-view basis ($7).
* Friday at Gutterson Fieldhouse is $1 hot dog night courtesy of University Dining Sodexho. Friday is also Lippa’s “Ice at Center Ice” promotion. One fan will have a chance to chip through the ice for a diamond pennant. If the fan gets through to the diamond pennant every fan can bring their ticket stubs into Lippa’s Jewelers on Church St. for a 15-percent discount up until Valentine's Day. Sunday at Gutterson Fieldhouse there will be a “Skate with the Cats” at the conclusion of the Providence game. Fans are reminded to bring their skates. Both games will also feature Healthy Living samples in the Gutterson lobby.

FIELD HOCKEY (1-17; 0-5 America East)
LAST WEEK:
* Vermont went 0-2 on the week, falling to Fairfield on Saturday at home 1-0 and then dropping a 4-0 decision against Providence on Sunday.
QUICK HITS:
* Against Fairfield sophomore Sarah Becque (Westborough, Mass.) recorded her team-high eighth defensive save of the season. She entered the week tied for the most in the nation.
* Sunday’s game wrapped up the season for the Catamounts. Seniors Kristen Heavens (Harwinton, Conn.), Joanna Berger (Rhinebeck, N.Y.), Megan Maynard (Waterbury Center, Vt.), Sarah Meacham (North Hartland, Vt.) and Chelsea Stevenson (Crosswicks, N.J.) were each honored prior to the final home game of their Vermont careers.
* Seven of Vermont’s losses were by only one goal.

SWIMMING AND DIVING (4-2; 1-2 America East)
LAST WEEK:
* The Catamounts dropped a pair of meets on the road against conference foes on Saturday, falling to both Boston University and Binghamton.
QUICK HITS:
* Freshman Kailey Gardner (Ithaca, N.Y.) led the Catamounts as she won the 1,000 freestyle in a new Binghamton pool record time of 10:24.58.
* Senior Colleen Clark (Unionville, Conn.) was victorious in the 200 freestyle (1:53.94) and earned a second place showing in the 100 free in a time of 53.26.
WHO’S NEXT:
* The Catamounts return to action on November 14 when they travel to face league rival Maine. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
