BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont senior guard Courtnay Pilypaitis (Ottawa, Ontario) has been named to the Full Court Press Preseason Mid-Major Top-25 Honorable Mention team. The Full Court Press Mid-Major Top-25 team honors outstanding student-athletes that are in Division I programs outside of the six major conferences. The players were chosen from 25 different conferences and from approximately 258 institutions.
Pilypaitis was named the America East Rookie of the Year in 2007, the league's Player of the Year in 2008 and picked up the Most Outstanding Player honor at the America East Tournament last season after helping Vermont win the 2009 America East Championship.
On Wednesday, at America East Basketball Media Day, she was a unanimous choice for the America East Preseason All-Conference team for the third straight year. Pilypaitis, an America East All-Conference First Team performer for the past two seasons, is the active scoring leader in the league heading into the 2009-10 season with 1,482 career points.
Last season she ranked among the America East leaders in nine of 10 statistical categories for the third straight year. She led Vermont in scoring (15.2 ppg), rebounding (7.3 rpg), assists (5.0 apg), free throw shooting (.787), and three-point field goals (67 – .387).
The Catamounts were picked to win the America East in the Preseason Coaches' Poll for the second straight year.
