VESTAL, N.Y. – The University of Vermont swimming and diving team dropped a pair of meets on Saturday against America East opponents at Binghamton University. The Cats fell to the league’s preseason favorite Boston University 164-78 and also the host team, 123-119. Vermont falls to 4-2 on the year overall and 1-2 in conference action.
The highlight of the meet for Vermont was freshman Kailey
Gardner (Ithaca, N.Y.) who won the 1,000 freestyle and set a new
Binghamton pool record in the process with a time of 10:24.58. The Cats’
only other win on the afternoon came from senior Colleen
Clark (Unionville, Conn.), who was victorious in the 200 freestyle
in 1:53.94.
Gardner also finished second in both the 200 IM (2:10.67) and the 500
freestyle (5:08.16) to lead the Cats. Clark also earned a second place
showing in the 100 free in a time of 53.26.
The Catamounts next return to action on November 14 when they travel to
