BUS WITH US
The University of Vermont Athletic Department
is sponsoring a "Bus With Us" trip when the
men's hockey team plays a two-game series at
Boston College on November 14-15. The trip
includes tickets to both games against the
Eagles at the Conte Forum. Saturday's game is
a 7 p.m. start and Sunday's game is set for 4
p.m. Saturday night hotel accommodations will
be provided by the Sonesta Hotel in
Cambridge, Mass. On Sunday, there will be an
alumni and fan gathering prior to the game.
Seats are limited for the trip and costs are:
$250 (includes single room), $200 (includes
double room), $175 (includes triple room),
$150 (includes quad room). To register please
email rallycatamount@uvm.edu. Please include
your preference for shirt size and type of
sandwich for lunch (veggie, Italian, ham or
turkey).

CATAMOUNT TIP-OFF PRESENTED BY TD BANK
The University of Vermont Athletic Department
will host the sixth annual Catamount Tip-Off
presented by TD Bank, featuring the UVM men's
and women's basketball teams on Saturday,
October 24 at Patrick Gymnasium. Tickets are
$5.00 each and are available starting October
19 via online at www.UVMathletics.com, at the
UVM Ticket Office in Patrick Gymnasium or at
the door the day of the event. All proceeds
from this event will benefit the Vermont
Cancer Center in support of breast cancer
awareness. Admission is free for all UVM
students with a valid ID, but donations are
encouraged. Both teams will conduct
scrimmages and participate in a dunk,
three-point and 2-ball contest.
WOMEN'S HOCKEY (3-1-0, 0-0-0 Hockey
East)
LAST WEEK:
The Catamounts split a weekend series against
No. 4 Clarkson. On Friday the Golden Knights
upended UVM 4-0. But, on Saturday Vermont was
able to rebound and upset the No. 4 team in
the nation 4-1. After falling behind 1-0 less
than two minutes into the game, UVM used a
three-goal second period to fuel the victory.
QUICK HITS:
*The 4-1 win over Clarkson marks the first
time in school history UVM ever defeated the
Golden Knights.
*Saturday's win over the No. 4 Golden Knights
is the highest ranked team the Catamounts
have ever defeated.
*UVM is currently 3-1-0 during its eight-game
homestand. Vermont still has two games
remaining against Princeton and Northeastern
before it hits the road.
WHO's NEXT
*UVM will host Princeton in a two-game
weekend series. The game on Friday, October
23 is scheduled for 7 p.m., while Saturday's
game is slated for 7 p.m.
MEN'S HOCKEY (2-1-0, 1-0-0
HEA)
LAST WEEK:
* No. 11 Vermont defeated No. 12 Boston
College 4-1 in front of a sellout crowd at
Gutterson Fieldhouse on Sunday.
QUICK HITS:
* Sophomore Rob Madore (Pittsburgh,
Pa.) made 22 saves in Sunday's win and the
Catamounts went 8-for-8 on the penalty kill.
* Senior Colin Vock (Detroit, Mich.)
and freshman Chris McCarthy
(Collegeville, Pa.) each had a goal and an
assist for the Catamounts. Senior co-captain
Brian Roloff (West Seneca, N.Y.)
notched a power-play goal and junior
Wahsontiio Stacey (Kahnawake, Que.) also
scored.
* Vermont improved to 4-0-2 in its last six
games at home against BC.
WHO'S NEXT:
Vermont returns to action on Friday at
Merrimack at 7 p.m.
WOMEN'S SOCCER (1-10-3; 1-3-2 America
East
LAST WEEK:
* Vermont was blanked by New Hampshire, 3-0,
in the only game of the week for the
Catamounts.
WHO'S NEXT:
* The Catamounts close out the regular season
with three straight road games. UVM travels
to Dartmouth for a 6 p.m. non-conference game
on Tuesday (Oct. 20), then faces Binghamton
on Thursday (Oct. 22) at 7 p.m. in Vestal,
N.Y. and wraps up the week at Hartford on
Sunday (Oct. 25) at 1p.m.
CROSS COUNTRY
LAST WEEK:
* Vermont swept the Saint Michael's
Invitational in Colchester, Vt. on Friday.
QUICK HITS:
* Senior Aly Millett (Half Moon Bay,
Calif.) out-dueled teammate Morgan
Powers (Cincinnati, Ohio) to take first
place in the women's race. She finished the
race in a time of 18:10. Overall, the
Catamounts took nine of the top 10 spots in
the women's race.
* Junior Ben Talbot (Scarborough,
Maine) won the men's race with a time of
26:32. Vermont runners took the first five
places and nine out of 10 overall in the
men's competition.
WHO'S NEXT:
* The Catamounts are idle this week and will
prepare for the America East Cross Country
Championship, which UVM will host on October
31 at Catamount Family Center in Williston,
Vt.
FIELD HOCKEY (1-13; 0-3 America East)
LAST WEEK:
* Vermont dropped its only game of the week,
falling on the road to #18 Albany, 2-0.
QUICK HITS:
* Sophomore Sarah Becque (Westborough,
Mass.) recorded her team-best sixth and
seventh defensive saves of the season. Becque
entered the week second in the nation in the
category.
* Senior Kristen Heavens (Harwinton,
Conn.) made eight saves for Vermont.
* The Catamounts final three regular season
games will take place at home.
WHO'S NEXT:
* The Catamounts return to action on Saturday
when they travel to face Maine starting at
noon in America East action. Vermont will
then return home to face Columbia on Sunday
at 2 p.m.
SWIMMING AND DIVING (3-0; 1-0 America
East)
LAST WEEK:
* The Catamounts were off last week.
WHO'S NEXT:
* The Catamounts return to action on
Saturday, October 24 when they host Siena
starting at 2 p.m.
MEN'S SOCCER (1-7-5; 1-1-2 America
East)
LAST WEEK:
The Catamounts hosted Albany on Wednesday and
tied 0-0. Senior Tom Critz (Enfield, Conn.)
made four saves in his second shutout of the
season. On Saturday UVM traveled to rival
New Hampshire where the Wildcats remained
unbeaten in America East play with a goal in
the 71st minute by Robin Gerum. Critz had
one save in the losing effort. This week
Vermont remains on the road when it travels
to Stony Brook on Wednesday, then on Saturday
UVM hosts Binghamton for Senior Day
celebrations.
QUICK HITS:
* Senior goalie Tom Critz (Enfield,
Conn.) now has two saves on the season.
* The back-to-back shutouts by UVM marks only
the second time this season the Catamounts
have not scored in consecutive games.
*The Catamounts have played in five overtime
games this season, recording a record of
0-0-5 in those games. The school record for
most overtime games in a season is 10 in
2006.
WHO'S NEXT:
*The Catamounts will travel to Stony Brook on
Wednesday, October 21 for a pivotal matchup.
UVM currently sits in fifth place in America
East, while Stony Brook is a game ahead in
fourth place. Then on Saturday Vermont
returns home when it hosts Binghamton at 1
p.m. Saturday will also be Senior Day at
Centennial Field.
