BURLINGTON, Vt. – University of Vermont seniors Kristen Millar (Whitby, Ont.), Jilyne McDonald (Bellevue, Wash.) and Juergen Uhl (Muhlenbach, Germany) as well as junior Viktor Stålberg (Gothenburg, Sweden) have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I At-Large Team. The College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) made the announcement today.
Millar, a member of the women’s lacrosse team, earned a spot on the women’s first team, while Uhl, a Nordic skier, earned a spot on the men’s first team. Millar and Uhl are now candidates for national academic All-America honors. McDonald, an alpine skier, and Stålberg, a member of the men’s hockey team, each earned second team honors.
Millar, a four-time MVP for the women's lacrosse team, earns her second straight ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I honor. Millar posted a 3.62 grade point average and graduated on May 17 with a degree in elementary education and minors in French and nutrition and food science.
Millar leaves UVM as arguably the best player in school history. She is the all-time leader at Vermont in goals, assists, points, ground balls, caused turnovers and draw controls. As a senior she became the all-time leader in draw controls in NCAA Division I women's lacrosse history. She also eclipsed the 200-point milestone and is the first Catamount to record over 100 goals and 100 assists in the program's history.
Millar is a three-time America East All-Conference honoree and was named to the America East Women's Lacrosse All-Academic Team the last two seasons. She led UVM to back-to-back appearances in the America East Women's Lacrosse Championship for the second time in school history. Last season the Catamounts finished as the regular season runner-up and posted a school-record five conference victories. In 2009, UVM went 9-8, posting its first winning season since 1994 and tying the school record for wins in a single season.
Millar was awarded the prestigious J. Edward Donnelly Award by the UVM Athletic Department as the top female senior student-athlete at the annual Rally Awards. At commencement, she was honored with the Class of 1967 Award, presented by the University to seniors who best exhibit leadership, academic competence and character, and who have earned the respect of faculty and fellow students.
Uhl was one of the most accomplished Nordic skiers in UVM’s history and earns a second straight ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I honor in 2009. Uhl was a three-time NCAA All-American and four times was named to the NCAA All-Academic Team while maintaining a 3.81 grade point average in mechanical engineering.
Uhl capped off a brilliant career by winning the 10k classic at the 2009 NCAA Ski Championships to earn Vermont’s first individual national championship in a Nordic event since 1998. He won the race by more than 10 seconds. The Catamounts finished fifth overall at the NCAA Ski Championships.
Uhl finished his collegiate career with 10 first-place finishes and 22 top-five performances. He won three classic races as a senior and as a junior went a perfect 5 for 5 in classic races on the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association Circuit. Uhl was also named First-Team All-East in each of his four years and was a team captain in 2009. He was awarded the J. Edward Donnelly Award by the UVM Athletic Department as the top male senior student-athlete at the 2009 Rally Awards.

McDonald competed at four NCAA Ski Championships in her career and earned a pair of podium finishes. She grabbed third in the slalom at the 2009 NCAA Ski Championships and was second in the slalom at the NCAA’s as a sophomore in 2006.
McDonald was named First-Team All-East in 2006, 2008 and 2009. She skied to 22 podium finishes in her career while posting six victories. She won the slalom at the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association Championships in 2005 and won the giant slalom at the EISA Championships in 2008.
McDonald was awarded the Semans Trophy by the UVM Athletic Department at the 2009 Rally Awards. The Semans Trophy is presented to the senior male and female student-athletes who have demonstrated a high level of athletic achievement and who earned the respect and regard from his/her fellow students for leadership, loyalty, and service to UVM.

He became just the fourth player in program history to be named finalist for the Hobey Baker Award along with Kirk McCaskill ‘83 (1982), Eric Perrin ‘97 (1996) and Martin St. Louis ‘97 (1995, 1996, 1997).
