The University of Vermont week in athletics is produced each week during the academic year. The week in athletics provides updates and recaps of all the action and upcoming events in Catamount Country.

CATAMOUNTS TV | Click Here
Catamounts TV is a new addition to the UVM Athletics website. The video portal will serve as the home of all of the video content produced by the athletic department. On the bottom of the right hand column of the video player box there is a playlist arrow. Click on the arrow and select the sport of your choice to see all the videos for the sport you selected.

UVM will also continue to post videos on its YouTube channel as well. But for the most immediate opportunity to view highlights and postgame interviews after UVM contests go to Catamounts TV.

BUS WITH US – NOV. 14-15
The Vermont Athletic Department is sponsoring a "Bus With Us" trip when the men's hockey team plays a two-game series at Boston College on November 14-15. The trip includes tickets to both games against the Eagles at the Conte Forum, Saturday’s game is a 7 p.m. start and Sunday’s game is set for 4 p.m. Saturday night hotel accommodations will be provided by the Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, Mass. On Sunday, there will be an alumni and fan gathering prior to the game. Seats are limited for the trip and costs are: $250 (includes single room), $200 (includes double room), $175 (includes triple room), $150 (includes quad room). To register please email rallycatamount@uvm.edu. Please include your preference for shirt size and type of sandwich for lunch (veggie, Italian, ham or turkey).

SWIMMING AND DIVING (4-0; 1-0 America East)
LAST WEEK:
* The Catamounts improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2006-07 with a 167-124 victory over Siena at home on Saturday.
QUICK HITS:
* Junior Kate Weaver (South Burlington, Vt.) led the Cats with three wins, taking first in the 100 (54.22) and 200 (1:54.08) freestyle events and also the 100 butterfly (59.57).
* Weaver teamed up with senior Colleen Clark (Unionville, Conn.), freshman Abby Mundt (Madison, Wis.) and sophomore Hannah Center (Chevy Chase, Md.) to break the pool record in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:37.07.
* Clark was also a multiple-event winner, placing first in the 50 (25.00) and 500 (5:05.95) freestyle events.
WHO’S NEXT: * The Catamounts return to action Saturday (Oct. 31) against a pair of America East foes, when they travel to Vestal, N.Y. to take on Binghamton with Boston University starting at 1 p.m.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY (4-2-0, 0-0-0 Hockey East) | Weekend Highlights
LAST WEEK:
* The Catamounts split a weekend series against Princeton, winning 4-3 on Friday and falling 7-2 on Saturday.
QUICK HITS:
* The 4-3 win over Princeton marked the first time in school-history Vermont defeated Princeton. UVM was 0-9-0 prior to the weekend series against the Tigers.
* Senior goalie Kristen Olychuck (Kelowna, British Columbia) was named last week’s Hockey East Defender of the Week. The award from the week of October 17-23 was given to Olychuck for her 51 saves in the weekend series against No. 4 Clarkson.
* UVM is currently 4-2-0 during its eight-game homestand.
WHO’S NEXT
* UVM will open Hockey East action hosting Northeastern in a two-game series this weekend. The game on Friday (Oct. 23) is scheduled for 7 p.m., while Saturday’s (Oct. 31) game is slated for 4 p.m.

FIELD HOCKEY (1-15; 0-4 America East) | Highlights
LAST WEEK:
* Vermont went 0-2 on the week, falling on the road to Maine 4-1 and also dropping a 1-0 decision at home versus Columbia on Sunday.
QUICK HITS:
* Sophomore Mackenzie Williams (Rome, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season against Maine on Saturday.
* Senior Kristen Heavens (Harwinton, Conn.) made a career-high 23 saves in the loss against the Black Bears.
* Sophomore Brooke Crane (Lancaster, N.H.) made her first start of the season in goal for Vermont against Columbia and recorded six saves.
WHO'S NEXT:
* The Catamounts return to action on Saturday (Oct. 31) when they host Fairfield at 12 p.m. Vermont will also face Providence at home on Sunday (Nov. 1 - 1 p.m.) as part of “Senior Day.”

MEN’S BASKETBALL (0-0, 0-0 America East) | Catamount Tip-Off Highlights
* The Catamounts will host Concordia from Montreal on Sunday (Nov. 1) at 1 p.m. in the first of two preseason games this season.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (0-0, 0-0 America East) | Catamount Tip-Off Highlights
* Vermont will host Laval on Saturday (Oct. 31) at 1 p.m. at Patrick Gymnasium in the first of two preseason games.

MEN’S HOCKEY
(2-2-0, 1-1-0 Hockey East)
LAST WEEK:
* No. 7 Vermont lost at Merrimack 5-2 on Friday.
QUICK HITS:
* Senior Brayden Irwin (Toronto, Ont.) scored a goal against the Warriors and has a four-game point streak to begin the season. Irwin has a team leading six points (3g, 3a) and plus-5 rating.
* Juniors Kevan Miller (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Wahsontiio Stacey (Kahnawake, Que.) each had two assists against Merrimack.
* Senior Kyle Medvec (Burnsville, Minn.) scored his first goal of the season against the Warriors to become the 10th different Catamount to notch a goal this season.
WHO’S NEXT: * Vermont returns to action on Friday (Oct. 30) at Maine for a 7 p.m. game at Alfond Arena. The game will be televised on WABI in the Orono, Maine area.

WOMEN’S SOCCER (1-13-3; 1-5-2 America East)
LAST WEEK:
* Vermont lost all three games last week to close out the 2009 season. UVM fell 3-0 at Dartmouth, 3-1 at Binghamton and 3-0 at Hartford.

CROSS COUNTRY
LAST WEEK:
* Vermont was idle last week preparing for the America East Championships, which UVM hosts on Saturday (Oct. 31) at Catamount Family Center in Williston, Vt. The men's race is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. and will be followed by the women's race at 11:30 a.m.

MEN’S SOCCER (1-9-5; 1-4-2 America East)
LAST WEEK:
* The Catamounts dropped a 2-1 decision at Stony Brook and fell on a last second goal, 2-1, to Binghamton at Centennial Field last week.
QUICK HITS:
* Kyle Luetkehans (LaGrange, Ill.) recorded his first career goal during UVM’s 2-1 loss to Binghamton on Saturday.
* T.J. Gore (Macomb, Mich.) has played in 73 games as a Catamount. He is two games shy of moving into a tie for 10th all-time in career games played.
* The Catamounts have played in five overtime games this season, recording a record of 0-0-5 in those games. The school record for most overtime games in a season is 10 in 2006.
WHO'S NEXT:
* Vermont wraps up the regular season hosting defending America East Champion Boston U. on Wednesday (Oct. 28) at 2 p.m. at Centennial Field. The game will serve as a play-in game for the two teams fighting for the No. 6 seed and final spot in the America East Tournament. UVM holds a two-point lead over Boston U. in the league standings.
