Regional Rankings
BURLINGTON, Vt. – The University of Vermont women's cross country team earned a regional ranking for the fourth straight week, and fifth time this season, in the latest U.S Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association regional poll.
The Catamounts moved up one spot to 13th in the Northeast region poll released on Monday. Vermont is ahead of New Hampshire and Boston University in the latest poll after finishing third overall at the 2009 America East Cross Country Championship, which UVM hosted last weekend.
Senior Aly Millett (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) posted a career-best finish in her final conference championship race, placing fifth overall. She covered the course in a time of 18:45.20 and her performance was the best by a Catamount women's runner since Michele Palmer was fourth in 2003.
Teammate Morgan Powers (Cincinnati, Ohio) placed ninth overall to give UVM two runners in the top-10 for the first time in nine years. The Catamounts also had their best team finish since 2000, placing third in the women's standings.
Up next for the Catamounts is the NCAA Regional race hosted by Boston University at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. on November 14. The men's race is slated for 2:30 p.m. and the women's race will start at 3:30 p.m.
