BURLINGTON, Vt. – Seniors Doug Maisey (Gwynedd Valley, Pa.) and Aly Millett (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) have been named the UVM/Sheraton Hotel Student-Athletes of the Week for the period ending November 1.

Maisey posted a career-best third place finish at the 2009 America East Cross Country Championships, which Vermont hosted this weekend at Catamount Family Center in Williston, Vt.

Maisey finished the course in a time of 25:34.80. His performance was the best by a Catamount men's runner since 2001 when Jamie Carmichael placed fourth overall at the league championships. The men finished fifth overall in the team standings for the second time in three years.

Millett also posted a career-best finish in her final conference championship race, placing fifth overall. She covered the course in a time of 18:45.20 and her performance was the best by a Catamount women's runner since Michele Palmer was fourth in 2003.

Teammate Morgan Powers (Cincinnati, Ohio) placed ninth overall to give UVM two runners in the top-10 for the first time in nine years. The Catamounts also had their best team finish since 2000, placing third in the women's standings.

All three top-10 finishers for Vermont, Maisey, Millett and Powers earned America East All-Conference honors.

Up next for the Catamounts is the NCAA Regional race hosted by Boston University at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. on November 14. The men's race is slated for 2:30 p.m. and the women's race will start at 3:30 p.m.
