What is the Victory Club?

The Victory Club is organized for the purpose of providing financial and community support for the whole University of Vermont athletic department within the guidelines established by the NCAA and the University.

The Victory Club was formed to provide a consistent way of connecting UVM alumni, letter winners and fans to the University through athletics, and thus increase support for the program. The Victory Club brings under one umbrella all the former "Friends Of" groups, booster groups and the Catamount Club. The efforts of sport-specific booster groups have been very beneficial for the athletic program. However, we have reached a point in our history where integration of all booster groups will create tremendous synergy and greater organizational effectiveness.

Where does the money go?

All dollars raised by the Victory Club will be used in support of all our varsity teams and specifically for:

  • Scholarships
  • Life Skills Program
  • Enhancing operating budgets for all sports
  • Special projects (locker room enhancements, spring trips, video equipment, etc.)

Why should a person or business join?

No two people have the same reasons for joining the Victory Club and supporting UVM Athletics. However, some of the reasons most frequently expressed are:

  • To belong to the Victory Club is an investment in the leaders of tomorrow and one of the University's most visible and important endeavors.
  • A strong, winning athletic program instills pride in everyone associated with the University, builds campus and community spirit and focuses national attention on the state of Vermont.
  • It is fun to belong to the Victory Club, attend games and follow UVM's teams.

Why does UVM Athletics need my support?

Raising the competitive metabolism of all aspects of UVM is a core element of the University's vision for the future. This includes a strong athletic program which is committed to excellence.

As is the case at most, if not all, Division I universities, private support is crucial for the success of the athletic program. If we are to grow our athletic program to a level of competitive excellence, we need private support to fund various initiatives, particularly athletic scholarships.

Competitive excellence is exciting and important to the community, state of Vermont and our alumni across the country.

Competitive excellence helps promote the school on a national level.

What does my membership entail?

While there is great satisfaction in supporting UVM's exceptional student athletes, there are also tangible benefits that one can enjoy. These could include VIP parking, hospitality, premium seating at certain events, discounts on season tickets or access to UVM playoff tickets. Victory club members will also be given priority when new hockey season tickets become available. Furthermore, when a new arena is built, members will have priority in seating the new building.

If you have any questions about your benefits or anything else connected with the Victory Club, please call (802) 656-0956.

How does the priority system work?

There are several benefits based on availability and a minimum giving level. The priority system is set up to create a fair way to distribute these benefits.

Most notably, the priority system will help distribute prioity seating. If donor A gives $1200, donor B $1000, donor C $800, donor D $750, donor E $500 and donor F $500, they will get seats in the order of their donation amount. Donor E and F both gave the same amount. Who would go first? Although both have made the minimum donation for that benefit level, Donor F would go first because she has given more money to UVM Athletics (since 1996). If both donor E and F had given the same total amount to UVM Athletics, the tie would be broken by simply first-come, first-serve.

How does a gift-in-kind (GIK), a gift of securities or a planned gift work?

UVM gladly accepts Gifts In Kind (GIK) when they fit with UVM Athletic priorities. They will be credited at 50% of their market value. Gifts of securities or planned gifts are also appreciated. Please call (802) 656-0956 for additional information.

Does UVM accept matching fund gifts and how do they affect my benefit level?

UVM encourages gifts from matching gift companies. Simply include the form with your gift and we will do our part. To encourage individuals to use their matching gift capability, your total gift will be considered for benefit purposes.

Example: Donor A works for a matching gift company. Her $500 gift to the Victory Club is matched at $500, making her a $1000 donor to the Victory Club. Benefits would be at the $1000 level.
