The UVM Athletic Communications Office introduces the "Photo of the Week"
this week. Each week the UVM Athletic Communications Office will choose a
"Photo of the Week" related to Vermont Athletics. Any photo relating to
Vermont Athletics, past or present, whether taken on campus or off campus
may be submitted. The more dynamic and original the shot, the better. To
submit a photo for consideration for "Photo of the Week" contact the UVM
Athletic Communications Office at sportspr@uvm.edu. Please send the photo
at the highest resolution possible and identify the people, place and
event.

Catamounts TV is the video portal for UVM Athletics. It serves as the home
of all of the video content produced by the athletic department. On the
bottom of the right hand column of the video player box there is a playlist
arrow. Click on the up arrow and select the sport of your choice to see
all the videos for the sport you selected.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (2-0, 0-0 America East)
LAST WEEK:
* Vermont won the Sheraton Raleigh Wolfpack Invitational hosted by NC State
this weekend. The Catamounts defeated Western Michigan in the first round,
79-65, and then beat the hosts, 52-47, in the championship game.
QUICK HITS:
* May Kotsopoulos (Waterloo, Ontario) was named the tournament MVP
after pouring in a career-high tying 26 points in the season opener versus
Western Michigan. She added 21 points in the victory over NC State.
* Courtnay Pilypaitis was one rebound shy of her third career
triple-double in the season opener, posting 21 points, nine rebounds and 10
assists. She also became UVM's all-time leader in three-point field goals
versus Western Michigan. Her record breaking three came on an attempt that
beat the shot clock buzzer in the final minute of the game. Pilypaitis
broke the record of 194 three's set by Lori Taylor '98.
* Three freshmen made their Catamount debuts this weekend. Kendra
Seto (Oshawa, Ontario) earned a start in the season opener and
responded with 15 points and five rebounds. Lauren Buschmann (St.
Catharines, Ontario) sank two clutch free throws in the final minutes
against NC State and Morgan Albert (Brighton, Mich.) gave the
Catamounts some valuable minutes off the bench.
WHO'S NEXT:
* Vermont will face its second straight ACC opponent when it travels to
Chestnut Hill, Mass. to take on Boston College on Sunday (Nov. 22) at 2
p.m. The game can be heard on WVMT-620 AM and on the Internet at

MEN’S HOCKEY
(4-4-1, 3-3-1 HEA)
LAST WEEK:
* No. 15 Vermont dropped a 7-1 decision and picked up a 3-2 win at No. 16
Boston College on the weekend. Sunday’s victory was the first for the
Catamounts at Kelley Rink since Nov. 11, 1994 and ended a 10-game losing
streak on the road against the Eagles.
QUICK HITS:
* Senior Mike Spillane (Bow, N.H.) turned away 30 shots, including
10 grade-A opportunities, in Sunday’s 3-2 win. Spillane is 2-0-0 with a
2.14 goals against average and a .931 save percentage on the season.
* Freshman Chris McCarthy (Collegeville, Pa.) scored at even
strength, junior Kevan Miller (Los Angeles, Calif.) notched a
shorthanded goal and junior Justin Milo (Edina, Minn.) had a
power-play goal in Sunday’s win against the Eagles.
* Vermont is 3-1-1 in its last five meetings against the Eagles and has won
or tied the season series against BC in three of the last four
seasons.
WHO’S NEXT:
* Vermont returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 7:05 p.m. against No. 10
Massachusetts.
* The game against UMass is Chittenden County Alumni Night at Gutterson
Fieldhouse. There also will be Healthy Living samples available in the
lobby.
CROSS COUNTRY
LAST WEEK:
* The Vermont men's and women's cross country teams finished 20th and 14th,
respectively at the NCAA Northeast Regional race at Franklin Park in
Boston, Mass.
QUICK HITS
* Senior Doug Maisey (Gwynedd Valley, Pa.) led the men's team with a
time of 33:08 and classmate Aly Millett (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) was
the top women's runner for Vermont with a time of 23:15.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY (5-6-0, 1-4-0 HEA)
LAST WEEK:
* The Catamounts dropped a 4-0 game to Boston U on Wednesday (Nov. 11),
while their game against New Hampshire on Saturday was postponed.
QUICK HITS:
* Vermont had its streak of 22 consecutive penalty kills snapped in the
second period in the loss against Boston U. The streak set a new school
record.
* Sophomore Kailey Nash (Middletown, R.I.) is ranked second in the
nation with five power-play goals this year.
* Nash is also second in the country with three game-winning goals this
year. She is one game-winning goal away from tying a school record set by
Torrey Dennis in the 1999-2000 season.
WHO’S NEXT:
* Vermont will host Boston College on Friday (Nov. 20) at 7 p.m. The two
teams split a weekend series in Chestnut Hill, Mass., earlier this
month.
SWIMMING AND DIVING (6-2, 2-2 America East)
LAST WEEK:
* The Catamounts earned a pair of road wins in a meet at Maine on Saturday.
Vermont defeated the host Black Bears 150-130 and also topped Keene State
170-111.
QUICK HITS:
* Sophomore Caitlin Dowd (Setauket, N.Y.) paced the Cats by sweeping
the 100 (1:09.23) and 200 (2:29.81) breaststroke events.
* Vermont dominated the freestyle events on the afternoon, winning the 50,
100, 200 and 1,000.
* Senior Molly MacMillan (Doylestown, Pa.) and sophomore Katie
Heenan (Clarendon Hills, Ill.) each earned a win and a second place
showing.
WHO’S NEXT:
* The Catamounts are now off until December 5, when they travel to face
Yale starting at 12 p.m.
MEN’S BASKETBALL (1-1, 0-0 America East)
LAST WEEK:
* Vermont opened the regular season last week falling to Loyola on the
road, 79-66. The Catamounts bounced back with a 58-57 road victory over
Buffalo on Sunday night.
QUICK HITS:
* Senior Marqus Blakely (Metuchen, N.J.) led the Catamounts with 26
points, seven rebounds, five blocks and three steals against Loyola.
* Blakely hit one of two free throws with 9.5 seconds left against Buffalo
to give the Cats the win. He finished with 17 points, 12 rebounds and seven
assists.
* Seniors Nick Vier (Franklin Lakes, N.J.), Maurice Joseph
(Montreal, Quebec) and Blakely combined to score 41 of Vermont’s 58
points. Vier played 33 minutes and didn’t commit a turnover in the game,
while Joseph matched a career-high with seven rebounds.
WHO’S NEXT:
* Vermont returns to action next Sunday when it travels to face Rutgers at
4 p.m. in the opening game of the Legends Classic. The game can be heard
