BURLINGTON, Vt. - The University of Vermont men’s hockey team moved up to No. 7 in the latest USA Today/USA Hockey Poll and USCHO.com/CBS College Sports Poll released today. The Catamounts (2-1-0, 1-0-0 HEA) were ranked 11th in both polls last week. Vermont is also ranked third in the latest Inside College Hockey Power Rankings.
Vermont received one first-place vote in both the USA Today and USCHO.com polls. It’s the first time the Catamounts have received a first-place vote since December of 2005 when Vermont was ranked No. 3 in the country and was receiving two first-place votes.
Vermont defeated Boston College 4-1 on Sunday in front of a sellout crowd at Gutterson Fieldhouse in a game televised on ESPNU. The Catamounts return to action on Friday at Merrimack at 7 p.m.
