BURLINGTON, Vt. – Junior guard Amy Rosenkrantz (Tempe, Ariz.) has been named a captain for the Vermont women’s basketball team for the 2007-08 season. Head coach Sharon Dawley made the announcement today. Rosenkrantz will join senior Sara Fenton (East Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Sarah Madey (Derby Line, Vt.) as tri-captains for Vermont.

“The team has decided to add Amy as a captain because we all feel she has risen to the challenge of becoming a leader for us. She is playing some of the best basketball of her career and her presence on and off the court has helped develop a great chemistry within the team. Her leadership qualities compliment those of Fenton and Madey and all three work very well together. We are excited to have these three players lead our team this season," stated Dawley.

Rosenkrantz, one of the most consistent players for the Catamounts, has scored in double-figures in each of Vermont’s first two games this season. She scored a game-high 15 points in the season opener at UMass and added 11 points in the win at Holy Cross. She has also shown great improvement at the free throw line in the early going with a perfect 8-for-8 streak. Last season Rosenkrantz shot 52.8 percent from the line.

Vermont stands at 1-1 on the year and hosts the 14th annual TD Banknorth Classic this weekend (Nov. 17-18). The Catamounts face Brown at 12:30pm in the first round and NC State and St. John’s square off at 2:30pm on Saturday. The tournament continues Sunday with the consolation game at 12:30pm and the championship game slated for 2:30pm.

Tickets are $10 for reserved seats; $8 for adult general admission; $6 for general admission for children under 17 and UVM faculty/staff. One ticket is good for both games. Tickets can be purchased online at www.uvmathletics.com and will also be available in the Patrick Gym lobby one hour before game time.

Both Vermont games can be heard on WVMT-620 AM and via the Internet at SportsJuice.com. There is no fee for the live audio Internet feed. Video of all four games will be streamed over the Internet via B2 Networks for a pay-per-view price of $6.00. All four games will also feature live stats.
