East Release
BOSTON, Mass. – University of Vermont senior
Chris
Holm (Henderson, Nev.) was named the America East Men’s
Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 28. The award is
the first of his career and the first for a Catamount men’s basketball
student-athlete this season. The conference office made the announcement on
Monday afternoon.
Holm helped guide the Catamounts (15-6, 7-1 America East) to a pair of
America East road wins last week to stay atop of the league standings. The
6-foot-11 senior registered 18 points, 14 rebounds, two blocks and two
steals in a 76-63 victory over Hartford. The senior went 8-for-13 from the
floor.
On Sunday, Holm registered his league-leading ninth double-double of the
season with 11 points and 12 rebounds. For the week, he shot 58 percent
from the floor while averaging 14.5 ppg and 13.0 rpg. Holm has over twice
as many double-doubles as the next closest in the conference and has pulled
down the three highest single game rebounding totals in the league this
season.
Holm is third in the nation in rebounding (11.5 rpg) and second in
offensive rebounds per game (4.6).
The Catamounts return home for an America East showdown with New Hampshire
on Wednesday starting at 7:00pm. The game will be televised on CN8. The
game can be heard live on WEAV-AM 960, WXZO-FM 96.7, WCPV-FM 101.3, WCVR-FM
102.1 (Randolph), WCPV-FM 101.3, and on the internet at
www.uvmathletics.com with the audio stream provided by sportsjuice.com.
Watch the game on a pay-per-view basis via the Internet and B2 Networks by
