BURLINGTON, Vt. - University of Vermont men's basketball senior Marqus Blakely (Metuchen, N.J.) has been named to the CollegeInsider.com Preseason Mid-Major All-America Team. The web site released the 25-members today, as Blakely is the only player from the America East to be honored.
The only returning player in the nation to
have won his conference player of the year
award in each of the last two seasons,
Blakely earns a spot on CollegeInsider.com's
preseason team for a second straight season.
He was also named to the America East
Preseason All-Conference Team early this
year.
Rather than assembling first, second, third
and fourth team squads, the
collegeinsider.com Mid-Major All-America team
is one team consisting of 25 players and
honorable mentions. Division I coaches and
NBA scouts are part of the selection process,
but final decision rests with the
collegeinsider.com staff.
Blakely and the Catamounts open the 2009-10
season tonight against Loyola at 7 p.m.
