How much does it cost to participate in TREK?

The cost of participating in TREK varies according to the type of trip you choose. Additional program costs reflect the demand for specialized group equipment. More expensive options are in no way proportional to the amount of fun and experiential value that all TREK programs offer! Fees include all food, lodging, transportation, group gear usage, watercraft rental, instruction, a t-shirt, and administrative costs.

Note: Spaces in TREK are limited and tend to fill quickly.
Registration will be conducted on a first come, first served basis. We recommend you register as soon as possible to avoid any disappointment.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made before the registration deadline (July 2, 2013 5:00pm EST) will be fully refunded. Cancellations made between July 3, 2013- July 19, 2013 will be refunded 50%.  After July 19th, refunds are not guaranteed and only granted at the discretion of the TREK Directors and our ability to fill vacated spaces.

Cancellations of registrations made by credit card will be refunded less a 3% credit card processing fee.

NOTE: For All TREK Programs

Due to the growing number of TREK patricipatns, TREKKIES must provide all personal equipment. Upon conformation of your registration, you'll recieve a detailed supply list for your trip, which will include the "must have" items you'll need to be safe and comfortable during TREK. Please be aware that in some cases, students need to purchase additional equipment after receiving this list, incurring unanticipated expenses.

Students must have proper equipment when they arrive at TREK check-in. Missing items will have to be purchased from local retailers. Purchasing listed items at home will avoid additional expense and aggravation.

Weather in the Green Mountains and Adirondacks is very unpredictable at this time of year. Wet snow, hail, and rain are not uncommon in higher altitude wilderness environments. Remember" there is no such thing as bad weather, only unprepared travelers. Weather simply happens!

Is Financial Aid Available?

Yes! We have two types of aid available: identity-based scholarships and fee reductions. For more information on financial aid for TREK and costs, please check out our scholarship page.

Our ultimate goal is to work with ALL interested first-year and transfer students to make participation in TREK a reality!

TREKKIES who are awarded fee reductions or scholarships may request to borrow UVM Outing Club equipment, which includes backpacks, sleeping bags, and rain gear.
