xGrid

Project Definition

Name

xGrid Demonstration

Project Description

The xGrid Demonstration serves as a discovery, exploration, and concept testing for Apple's xGrid technology at UVM. Since the xGrid technology uses Apple's Rendezvous technology for network information and discovery, the current demonstrations are limited to particular subnets

  • Weasel World: the 104 subnet in the basement of Waterman
  • Applesauce: Although based in the CTL Commons (303 Bailey Howe), the Applesauce xGrid uses iBook and Powerbook technologies and offers a model of portable supercomputing.
