Introduction : Statement of the problem The goal is to generate netID's for UVM affiliates who are not faculty, staff, or students. Programs needing such IDs are - the Extension Service - the College of Medicine for FAHC employees - the College of Education - special UVM programs that serve other colleges through consortium needs What seems best is to build a feed for LDAP so that LDAP can create the netID and password in Kerberos. 2. Webct "Needs" WebCT has a very simple model ... - First Name - Last Name - WebCT ID --> NetID - WebCT Password --> NetPassword Additional information that would be handy includes - email address - netid of person generating the affiliation. 3. LDAP "Needs" LDAP runs a multistep from 1 AM to 4 AM. LDAP's key identifies are keys are based on -- SSN -- Banner -- Catcard Number -- PsuedoSSN -- i.e. an SSN with an unused prefix (800 ... 900 ...) LDAP can accept input from - ldif - csv 4. Proposed Solution Justin will build a process that provides an LDAP feed. This will contain - JID (A psuedoSSN) - First Name - Last Name - dummyID - dummyPASSWORD This process will leave the file in a place that Frank can access it LDAP will run Frank will provide Justin a file that contains - JID - First Name - Last Name - NetID - dummyPASSWORD 5. We will begin testing this for Carolyn Elliot's course.
