In the year 2000 ...
- computer and networks will be ubiquituous
- computing and networking will be
integrated into every course
- much course work will be computer based, with todays advanced
applications being common place -- e.g. GIS, human genome, survey
analysis, research archives, etc.
- leading course work will focus on knowledge acquisition and expert
agent development.
- the world wide web will be as fondly remembered as the DecSystem 2060.
"Academic Computing In the year 2000" is part of the University of
Vermont's long range budget planning
process. One of the goals of this project is to encourage
departments to share their views making effective use of information
technology, in today's incarnation, the World Wide Web. Your comments
and suggestions on this page are heartily welcome.
