National Sea Grant awarded $240,000 for
2001-2003 to fund strategic applied research on living aquatic
resources and watersheds in the Lake Champlain Basin. Projects
completed in August 2003 focused on the management of rainbow
smelt and on the impact of cormorant management on lake fish populations.
Research funds amounting to $160,000 per
year for two years supported applied research in 2004-2005 on
the Basin's lakes, their watersheds, and coastal and aquatic resources.
Lake Champlain Sea Grant currently supports
five research projects
for 2004-2006.
