Coach Connolly is a Professor at UVM but grew up in Ireland where he played Gaelic Football and Rugby, both at Club and University level. Coach Connolly has played for over 35 years. In the United States Coach Connolly began his playing Career at URI before moving on to playing and coaching for the Oregon State Beavers where they advanced to the round of 16 during his time there in 1992. Following that Coach Connolly worked and played in Wales where he played for Bangor RFC in the Heineken league. Coach Connolly moved back to the US in 1995 and played for Burlington Men's Rugby in BRFC where he played in two finals fours, won six NERFU championships, and played for a US selct side over 35 in 2002. Coach Connolly began coaching UVM in 2002 and retired from playing in 2004. He is a level three certified coach and level one certified referee.
