Karen received her PhD in second language acquisition from the University of Maryland (2009). She is interested in how adults learn foreign languages, and the role of age, aptitude, and instruction in language learning. Other interests include second language sentence processing and bilingualism. Karen was a researcher at the University of Maryland's Center for Advanced Study of Language before moving to Vermont. She teaches Language Teaching in the ESL Classroom.
