David H. Uzzell Jr. joined the Department of Romance Languages at the University of Vermont in 2007 as a Spanish Lecturer. He taught Spanish previously at the University of Connecticut and Arkansas. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Latin American, Caribbean, and U.S. Latino Studies Department at the State University of New York at Albany. His dissertation is entitled “Global Value Chain Governance and Socio-Economic Upgrading Processes in the Colombian Banana Industry: The Dynamics of 21st Century Competitiveness and Development”. His research interests revolve around the issues of global value chain theory and governance, firm and industrial upgrading processes, political economy and socio-economic development in Latin America.
