David H. Uzzell Jr. joined the Department of Romance Languages and Linguistics at the University of Vermont in 2007 as a Lecturer of Spanish. He taught Spanish previously at the University of Connecticut and Arkansas. He is currently an A.B.D. Ph.D. candidate in the Latin American, Caribbean, and U.S. Latino Studies Department at the State University of New York at Albany. His dissertation is entitled “Upgrading to Compete in the Banana Value Chain in Colombia: The Case of C.I. Uniban S.A., 1990-2012”. His research interests revolve around critical globalization and transnational studies, critical political economy, and development in Latin America, especially Colombia.
