Faculty - Brenda Beaudette-Kaim
Brenda Beaudette-Kaim is a Lecturer in the Department of Romance Languages and Linguistics. Born in the United States of French and Italian heritage, she lived in France for over sixteen years during which time she studied French and German. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in French and Psychology at Saint Michael’s College graduating in the top 1% of her class. She earned a Masters of Arts in French Literature at the University of Vermont.She also holds a Vermont Teaching License for grades six through twelve.
Brenda’s teaching experience is broad. She has taught French to the youngest and oldest members of our population and to those in between. She taught both English and French in the private and public sectors in France and the United States respectively. She teaches beginner French at Alliance Française (AF) and was contracted by AF and the Vermont Chamber of Commerce to develop and teach a specific type of French course for adult business owners who wish to better accommodate their francophone clients and customers.
Brenda believes that the incorporation of a foreign language in college curriculum requirements adds a distinguishing component to higher education and places its graduating students alongside the rest of the educated world, where learning a second language is second nature. Other related interests include the study of linguistics, etymology, and traveling to foreign countries. She currently teaches French II at the University of Vermont.
